The Cursed Remain Cursed, the first album from Long Island hardcore innovators Vision Of Disorder to be released in over a decade, will hit North American streets in just one week via Candlelight Records.

VISION OF DISORDER: Release “Set To Fail” Video Via Metal Injection

Today Vision Of Disorder discloses another new single from their anticipated pending full-length, The Cursed Remain Cursed, in the form of a video for the album’s second track, “Set To Fail.”

Stated guitarist Matt Baumbach: “’Set To Fail’ is a song that was literally finished the day before we went into the studio. [Mike] Kennedy showed up with this insane riff and it all came together very fast. This record is crazy in that some songs took three years and others took three days. It’s by far one of our strongest tracks ever in my opinion and its gonna be insane live.”

Vocalist Tim Williams added: “Set To Fail” was the last song to come together for The Cursed Remain Cursed writing sessions. When the track was played back over the studio speakers it was clear from the first thirty seconds we had a monster on our hands. The track represented everything VOD was, is and will be. All the elements and chaos VOD has to offer is within the track. When our friend Kirk Farrington approached us for a video shoot there was no doubt in our minds that this song would be it. Lyrically, the utmost honest and venomous track on the record, coming from a journey through the several levels of a personal hell so deep, that even the sun could cast no shadows.”

VISION OF DISORDER: Track Listing And Artwork Revealed

Candlelight Records today reveals album artwork and track listing for Vision Of Disorder’s forthcoming new album, The Cursed Remain Cursed. Set for release September 18, it is the first new album from the New York-based hardcore band in over ten years. A working collaboration between Vision Of Disorder, producer Will Putney (Shadows Fall, Suicide Silence), and mixer Cameron Webb (Motorhead, Social Distortion), The Cursed Remains Cursed is eagerly anticipated, with the album’s lead single “Loveless” already Top 20 on CMJ’s Loud Rock Album chart.

Several artists were considered for The Cursed Remain Cursed; the band looking for images that would reflect the near four years of intense work that comprised the making of the album. It was the vision of East Anglia-based illustrator Tom Bates that struck the right chord with the band in making the final selection. Guitarist Mike Kennedy says, “some of the best album covers, like Soundgarden’s Badmotorfinger and Faith No More’s Angel Dust, say everything and nothing at the same time. We felt like Tom’s art really impacted us profoundly in that way. None of us were thinking in that direction yet as soon as we saw it, the band unanimously wanted it on the cover.”

Lyrical inspiration for The Cursed Remain Cursed, as detailed by vocalist Tim Williams, came from a personal place. “There was a lot going on in my life at the time we began writing songs for the record and I had a lot to reflect upon,” he reveals. “Looking back over the past few years, I have had to make some difficult decisions. There were things that needed to change. Some things die quietly, while other things take years to pass.. Your life is what you make of it, to live is to learn.” Continuing he notes, “some songs came very easy, like ‘Skullz Out.’ Songs like ‘Loveless’ and Set To Fail’ took a little bit more effort because they were already saying something musically, so I had to work extra hard to push the vocal over the top.”

With creative detail now complete, the band are preparing for the album’s early autumn release and upcoming live appearances. Reflecting the extensive process, guitarist Matt Baumbach says, “in my opinion The Cursed Remain Cursed is our band’s finest achievement. We are proud to have written something that represents the next level of VOD. It is never easy to make one of our records; it’s long, arduous, and at times maniacal. This record bleeds from the band’s heart and it survived hell and back to get here. Roll the dice one more time because we are all in with this one.” Kennedy adds, “we feel we accomplished a very unique, vicious and exciting record without compromising the VOD brand of hardcore.”

The Cursed Remain Cursed Track Listing:

  • 1. Loveless
  • 2. Set to Fail
  • 3. Blood Red Sun
  • 4. Hard Times
  • 5. Annihilator
  • 6. Skullz Out (Rot In Pieces)
  • 7. The Enemy
  • 8. The Seventh Circle
  • 9. New Order of Ages
  • 10. Be Up On It
  • 11. Heart And Soul

Innovative and widely-admired, VISION OF DISORDER pioneered the collision between hardcore and metal. Since their formation in 1992, VISION OF DISORDER has sold over 250,000 albums in the United States. “When it comes to 90’s hardcore bands who were years (if not a decade) ahead of the curve, predating a whole generation of bands who took their style and ran with it, and never got the credit they deserved for it, VOD is right up there,” said Sergeant D from MetalSucks earlier this year. Lambgoat editor Alex Arnold notes, “when I discovered VISION OF DISORDER in 1997, it was a true revelation. For me, they were the perfect combination of heaviness, technicality, and melody.” Shai Hulud guitarist Matt Fox adds, “there is clearly an inherent musical groove rooted within the fiber of the Long Island underground. I’m convinced VISION OF DISORDER rooted it.”

VISION OF DISORDER: Album Release Date Confirmed

Candlelight Records today confirms September 18 as the North America release date for The Cursed Remain Cursed, the new album from New York’s Vision Of Disorder. Teaming with producer Will Putney (Shadows Fall, Suicide Silence) and mixer Cameron Webb (Motorhead, Social Distortion), The Cursed Remain Cursed features eleven new songs, including the album’s lead single “Loveless.” It is the first new recording by the band in over ten years.

“We feel we accomplished a very unique, vicious and exciting record without compromising the VOD brand of hardcore,” says guitarist Mike Kennedy. “The Cursed Remain Cursed sounds like nothing we’ve ever done.” Vocalist Tim Williams adds, “the songs are raw, real and from the heart.”

Seton Hall University’s WSOU recently welcomed Kennedy and Williams in studio for an interview to discuss the band’s history and the lengthy creative and recording process of The Cursed Remain Cursed. During the live broadcast, “Loveless” was played for the first time; Music Director Deeps Gera excitedly proclaims, “VOD are back with a hard, driving sound that will make you insane!” “Loveless” impacted metal radio nationwide the week of June 25; the single placing #2 Most Added on CMJ’s Loud Rock chart. Music Choice Music Director Gary Susalis comments, “VOD is one of the last true hardcore bands and they are back with an amazingly volatile record.”

Lambgoat editor Alex Arnold notes, “when I discovered Vision Of Disorder in 1997, it was a true revelation. For me, they were the perfect combination of heaviness, technicality, and melody. Both their self-titled album and Imprint are among my all-time favorites, and they’ve yet to put out a release that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed. If I was making an official compilation for all of the young, up-and-coming hardcore kids out there, VOD would be featured prominently.” Shai Hulud guitarist Matt Fox adds, “there is clearly an inherent musical groove rooted within the fiber of the Long Island underground. I’m convinced Vision Of Disorder rooted it.”

Vision Of Disorder performed this past weekend at the CBGB’s Music Festival in New York City. The band participated in the 3-day event that included live music and film events at over 30 venues throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. Williams says, “it was a great honor to be a part of the 2012 CBGB music festival. We were very happy to be asked to take part in such an iconic show. If you had told us this was going to happen back in 1994 we would have never believed it. As for the set, it was everything you would expect from a NYC hardcore show. It was packed, hot, and with no barricade the kids were flying all over the place. The crowd was singing along and the new song went over well.”
