RUMPELSTILTSKIN GRINDER: New Album Out Today And Streaming Via Metalsucks

Ghostmaker, the third full-length from Philly’s adrenalized death/thrash quartet Rumpelstiltskin Grinder, is out today in North America via Candlelight Records. With more than forty-five minutes of nonstop soul-crushing thunder, Ghostmaker shows the outfit at their most antagonistic yet, while also showcasing the most talented musical prowess from RSG to date.

The mob at MetalSucks, who are obviously big fans of the hard-partying Rumpelstiltskin Grinder ethos, are streaming all twelve neck-wrecking tracks from Ghostmaker for a limited time. Get blasted RIGHT HERE.

Now in their tenth year as a unit, Rumpelstiltskin Grinder currently contains members of Absu, Woe, Azure Emote, Ashencult, Fucked Forever, Total Fucking Destruction, Smoker & the Rollers and more. Ghostmaker was produced by the members of the band and bears cover art by gore artist Mike Hrubovcak (Sinister, Grave, Hate Eternal, Cattle Decapitation, etc.) as with several of the band’s previous releases.

CANDLELIGHT: Sampler Available For Free Via Amazon Starting Today

Candlelight Records today launches a free label sampler available exclusively from Amazon.com. The 8-song sampler includes previously unreleased material from Falloch, The Rotted, Wodensthrone, Sear Bliss, Woe, Winterfylleth, Rumpelstiltskin Grinder and includes the first single from Ihsahn’s new album Eremita.

“The Paranoid” is taken from Ihsahn’s anticipated fourth solo album. Set for release June 19, Eremita was mixed by Jens Bogren (Opeth) and features performances from drummer Tobias Ornes Andersen (Leprous), saxophonist Jorgen Munkeby (Shining-Norway), guitarist Jeff Loomis (ex-Nevermore), and vocalists Devin Townsend, Einar Solberg (Leprous), and Heidi S. Tveitan (StarofAsh). Metal Sucks editor Vince Neilstein says, “The Paranoid” is a perfect introduction to Eremita. It’s heavy, expansive, and it’s complex without being an asshole about it. Not that any of this should be surprising; Ihsahn’s been developing his own singularly definable sound for three albums now, so fans should know what to expect.”

The inclusion of an early production mix of Rumpelstiltskin Grinder’s “F*cking Wild” follows the recent announcement of the band’s forthcoming new album, Ghostmaker. The Philadelphia-based quartet recently completed a string of regional performances and are now gearing up for dates to support the new album once it hits stores nationwide on June 19. Guitarist Ryan Moll says, “the title of this track says it all. It’s a rather suiting description of its relentlessness. The lyrics were written by Shawn (Riley) and the title was inspired by some old live Venom recordings.”

Falloch’s “The Ghosts That Haunts This Path” is a new song for American audiences. Previously available as a b-side to a European-only single, the song showcases the impressive stylings of the Scottish post-black metal duo. MSN Metal called the band’s debut Where Distant Spirits Remain, “a drop-dead gorgeous, haunting piece of work.” Kerrang called it, “intoxicating, haunting, beautiful.” Brooklyn Vegan adds, “it’s clear that Falloch aims to walk along the righteous path of adventurous black metal bands like Alcest. Where Distant Spirits Remain is a great first step in that direction.”

Planning to hit the studio in early June to lay down tracks for their third album, Woe’s reworked “Quietly, Undramatically” opens a new door on the title track from the band’s popular 2010 release of the same name. Vocalist/guitarist Chris Grigg notes, “the remixed version of ‘Quietly, Undramatically’ is a more accurate representation of what was hoped to achieve with the material and offers a different perspective into the album.” Decibel Magazine said, “Woe strive for sophistication without falling into the usual pitfalls of pretentiousness, cartoonish-ness or undue gloss. Essential aggression is maintained, while the atmospheric and emotional depth envelopes are pushed with a bold fearlessness.”

RUMPELSTILTSKIN GRINDER: Ghostmaker Set For June 19 Release

Candlelight Records today confirms June 19 as the North American release date for Ghostmaker, the new album from metallers Rumpelstiltskin Grinder. Produced by the band, Ghostmaker is the third album from the Philadelphia quartet and reunites the band with noted gore artist Mike Hrubovcak (Sinister, Hate Eternal, Cattle Decapitation).

Commenting on the album, vocalist/bassist Shawn Riley says, “Ghostmaker represents everything we have worked towards for the past several years. When the album drops it will be obvious that this is something created by four dudes thirsty for blood, eager to silence all the critics, and to crush all the lames.” Guitarist Ryan Moll notes, “This album is our fastest, darkest, and most relentless album yet. It will contain some of the most bone-crushing, graveyard stomping, Frankenstein/Dracula/Wolfman hate-fuck riffage written thus far.” Guitarist Matt Moore adds, “Each song has its own distinct and strange aura of speed, darkness, brute strength, violence, cunning, and power. We have raised the bar and taken on musical and lyrical concepts that would drive commoners insane.”

Since completing recording, Rumpelstiltskin Grinder have been performing regionally, most recently at Philadelphia venue Johnny Brenda’s. Earlier this year members of the band sat down with Metal Rules TV for a roundtable chat about the album. The interview is available HERE.

Formed in 2002, Rumpelstiltskin Grinder had several underground releases, including a split 7-inch and a live album, before signing with Relapse. Their studio debut, Buried In the Front Yard, was released October 2005. Blabbermouth called the record, “a dynamic thrash album with roots in crossover, a musically talented cast, and loads of tongue-in-cheek cleverness.” The band would keep busy with additional split recordings, Speed N Spikes Vol. II (2008) and Urine Trouble / Nothing Defeats the Skull (2008) before getting back in to the studio for their second full length, Living for Death; Destroying the Rest also released by Relapse January 2009. The band supported Absu for a 22-date US/Canadian tour April 2009, a tour with Deceased in 2010, and have been performing regionally since.

Rumpelstiltskin Grinder currently features bassist/vocalist Shawn Riley, guitarist Matt Moore, guitarist Ryan Moll, and drummer Patrick Battaglia.

RUMPELSTILTSKIN GRINDER: Signs To Candlelight Records

Candlelight Records today confirms the worldwide signing of thrashers Rumpelstiltskin Grinder. The Philadelphia-based band is already working on their new album, titled Ghostmaker, expected for release early spring 2012. The four-piece tested some of their new material via a string of regional shows this past weekend and expect to tour in support of the album once released.

Guitarist Ryan Moll comments, “we are psyched to be on Candlelight.” Sharing details about the ongoing recording he notes, “right now we are in the studio working on our third and most intense release to date. This album promises to be the fastest, darkest, most relentless and insane album yet. It will contain some of the most bone-crushing, graveyard stomping, Frankenstein/Dracula/Wolfman hate-fuck riffage written thus far.”

Guitarist Matt Moore adds, “our wretched new masterpiece will be finished soon enough. Each song has it’s own distinct and strange aura of speed, darkness, brute strength, violence, cunning, and power. Like any respectable band, we have raised the bar and taken on musical and lyrical concepts that would drive commoners insane. Faster. Louder. Darker. Crazier.”
