CANDLELIGHT: Announced Early 2015 Releases

As the label today celebrates the North American release of ’s new album, Back From The Abyss, Candlelight Records is already busy at work on our early 2015 offerings. Planned stateside releases include the latest albums from Falloch and Voices, the label debut from Hateful Abandon, and several collector sets from the likes of 1349, Crowbar, and Insomnium. Pre-orders are set to launch in the coming weeks via the label’s official web store.

The second full-length album from Glasgow, Scotland’s Falloch is already enjoying glowing European response. North American fans will find the domestic version of the album on shelves January 27. This Island, Our Funeral is a darker dirge than its predecessor and features an expanded band front, including new vocalist/guitarist Tony Dunn, bassist Ben Brown, and drummer Steve Scott with founder/guitarist Scott McLean. Recorded at London’s Orgone Studios by Jaime Gomez Arellanu (Ghost, Cathedral, Ulver), Terrorizer Magazine says the album is chock full of “haunting atmosphere and evocative crescendos of music and emotion. Go for a walk with it, you’ll struggle not to be moved.” The band just headlined the second night of CandleFest at London’s Underworld alongside label-mates Winterfylleth, The Wounded Kings, October File, Pet Slimmers of the Year, and others. The band will perform at Damnation Fest in Leeds on November 1.

Also set for release January 27, is the second full-length album from Voices. The London-based band, featuring former members of Akercocke, mashes a deluge of sonically lethal sounds into a harrowing new musical concept. Metal Hammer calls London, “every bit as sprawling yet steeped in grandeur as the city it’s named after.” Recorded at Hackney Studios, the band describes it as, “a deep cinematic roller coaster ride through the darkest of nightmares.” Members Sam Loynes and Peter Benjamin discussed the record prior to their set at 2014’s Bloodstock Festival. The five-minute outtake can be seen here. Founded in 2011, Ave Noctum calls Voices’ sound, “dizzying and jaw dropping,” as it “maliciously batters away throwing things in a head stewing melee.” Candlelight will host a special London song premiere on October 14.

Bristol, England’s genre-blurring Hateful Abandon will see the release of their Candlelight debut, Liars/Bastards, on January 13. The newly signed duo has already found critical media support through their independent released material since their formation in 2008. Cvlt Nation currently features album track “The Walker” on their new mixtape series called F.O.A.G. Vol. 1. The popular site calls the band’s audio uniqueness, “a post-apocalyptic journey that isn’t bound by artificial genre conventions, incorporating the best elements of the rebellious ideology of Crass, the original spirit of industrial innovation that drove label’s like Throbbing Gristle’s Industrial Records, and the somber post punk and gothic rock of bands like Joy Division and Killing Joke.” On review of the album, Zero Tolerance notes, “the landscape here is one of crumbling urban decay, post-industrial ennui giving rise to shout-it-from-the-rooftops anger… the despair and danger is in equal measure as Hateful Abandon’s canvas sounds absolutely huge.”

Candlelight Records will present several multi-album collects throughout the new year from alumni label artists. The collections are a great avenue of introducing band’s earlier recordings to new fans. The first collection, Opeth/The Candlelight Years (featuring Orchid, Morningrise, and My Arms Your Hearse), was released in 2009 and has now sold over 25,000 copies. Collections set for release January 13 include:

Norway’s 1349 spent their initial years with Candlelight Records, releasing their initial trilogy of records – Liberation, Beyond the Apocalypse, and Hellfire – before delivering their fourth and final for the label, Revelations of the Black Flame in 2009. Following the release of the band’s latest album, Massive Cauldron of Chaos (Season of Mist), Candlelight presents a special collector’s series featuring each of the band’s Candlelight releases plus full-length concert Hellvetia Fire.

Finland’s Insomnium released four albums for Candlelight before signing with Century Media in 2011. In the Halls of Awaiting, Since The Day All Came Down, Above the Weeping World, and Across the Dark combined have sold over 75,000 copies in North America. The Candlelight Years presents all four together for the band’s growing fanbase. The collection launches the upcoming new year for the band who are still touring in support of their latest album, Shadows of the Dying Sun.

Lifesblood For The Downtrodden put end to a four year recording hiatus for Crowbar when it was originally released in 2005. Pantera’s Rex Brown and original Crowbar drummer Craig Nunenmacher united with founder/vocalist/guitarist Kirk Weinstein to record what Exclaim Magazine said, “will go down in doom history as one of their best.” Celebrating ten years since release, Candlelight Records has partnered the album with the live performance dvd Live: With Full Force in a limited digipak edition.

Additional artists planned for Candlelight’s alumni collections in 2015 include: Blut Aus Nord, Daylight Dies, Emperor, Anaal Nathrakh, Abigail Williams, and Throne of Katarsis.

All new releases from Candlelight Records beginning January 1 will be distributed exclusively in the United States by RED Music and in Canada via Sony Music Canada. Candlelight’s extensive catalog will also be handled by RED Music/Sony Music Canada effective January 1.

ORANGE GOBLIN: Set To Return To North America

With Orange Goblin’s Back From The Abyss full-length now three weeks away from release, the band has confirmed the first North American tour in support of the record. Set to begin December 1st and run through December 21st, Orange Goblin will return to the stage touring alongside Down, Bl’ast, and labelmates, King Parrot!

Vocalist Ben Ward comments, “I remember being a spotty 19 year old rushing out to the record store to buy the first Down album NOLA the very day it came out in 1994. Now, twenty years on, I have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming that Orange Goblin are heading back to North America as main support to the mighty Down. It really is fairytale stuff for us. Down are one of the bands that are the reason Orange Goblin exists. To be given this opportunity to go out to promote our brand new album, Back From The Abyss, to the Down fans is just a dream come true the rest of the band and I can’t wait to get started. The fact that we also get to see Bl’ast and King Parrot every night just makes it all so hard to believe! Hail the Leaf! Hail the RIFF! Hail DOWN!”

Recorded earlier this year, Back From The Abyss reunites Orange Goblin with producer Jamie Dodd; who served as producer on the band’s best selling album in North America to date – 2012′s A Eulogy For The Damned. Two songs already have fans globally excited; Loudwire and Metal Hammer premiered the Motörhead-tinged “The Devil’s Whip” to overwhelming success on August 15th. Last week Noisey premiered the first video from the album for the song “Sabbath Hex.” The band is currently working on a second video for the song “Mythical Knives” which is expected to be completed by month’s end.

Touring for the album will start in Europe on October 9th. Travelling the continent with friends Saint Vitus, Orange Goblin will pull song selections from their extensive catalog now spanning eight studio albums. Tickets for their North American dates are set to go on sale for shows Friday, September 19th.

Recorded earlier this year in London, Orange Goblin’s Back From The Abyss was produced by Jamie Dodd, mastered at Turan Audio and follows the band’s most successful release, 2012′s A Eulogy For The Damned, and the recent reissue of their 2007 album Healing Through Fire. In an advance 9/10 review of the record, This Is Not A Scene crowns Back From The Abyss, “another triumph for Orange Goblin,” furthering that it maintains the band’s, “consistent level of songwriting and performance all the way through its twelve tracks that make this their most accomplished album to date. ORANGE GOBLIN: New Album Coming This October; Track Streaming At Loudwire

Candlelight Records today confirms October 7th as the North American release date for Orange Goblin’s new album, Back From The Abyss. Recorded earlier this year in London, the album reunites the band with producer Jamie Dodd. It was mastered at Turan Audio in late July. Back From The Abyss will be available for preorder via iTunes and Amazon beginning August 26th. Fans can begin to preorder the CD today via Candlelight’s official webstore and Bandcamp page.

Loudwire.com is celebrating the announcement with an exclusive North American stream of the album’s first single, “The Devil’s Whip.” Vocalist Ben Ward says, “This song is a real old-school banger stuffed full of riffs, sleaze, filth, and speed… just like the best metal should be! It’s Motörhead-style, outlaw-biker rock in all its glory, destined to get heads banging, fists pumping, drinks flowing and asses shaking. If you don’t find yourself breaking the speed limit to this song, desperate to find the roughest bar in town, start a fight and spending the night in a cell, then you are quite clearly already dead. Let’s ride, let loose, let’s rip… that’s right, you can’t escape ‘The Devil’s Whip.’”

Back From The Abyss follows the band’s most successful release, 2012′s A Eulogy For The Damned, and the recent reissue of their 2007 album Healing Through Fire. Decibel Magazine calls the band’s sound, “maximum riffage and turbo doom.” Blabbermouth dubs them, “a big burly bag of rock goodness.” Rocking hard as fans have come expect, Back From The Abyss shows not only the band’s tried-and-true blues and doom but the high caliber of their musicianship.

Orange Goblin will kick off the Autumn with a European tour alongside doom legends St. Vitus. Set to begin in France on October 9th, the tour will work its way through thirteen countries before concluding in Germany on November 14th. On the tour’s announcement Ward said, “We are extremely excited to be going on tour with our good friends and long-time heroes St. Vitus. CANDLELIGHT RECORDS: To reissue Orange Goblin’s Healing Through Fire

Candlelight Records today confirms June 10 as the North American release date of Healing Through Fire. Produced by Mark Daghorn, the reissue includes two live bonus tracks taken from the band’s studio performance at BBC’s famous Maida Vale studio in London for the Radio One Rock Show in August 2007. The album will be available for pre-order via ITunes beginning May 20 and is available for physical pre-order now via Candlelight’s official web store.

Originally released in 2007, Healing Through Fire was issued via Sanctuary Records. The album closed a 3 year recording gap for the band (previous album Thieving From The House of God released 2004 via Rise Above Records) and would be the only album the quartet would release for Sanctuary. Talking with The Aquarian Weekly’s JJ Koczan in 2011, vocalist Ben Ward noted, “it would have been nice to play for our US fans and promote Healing Through Fire, but for some reason or another, it just never materialized.” Orange Goblin would not return to America until 2011; the tour put together to promote the release of a limited 5-cd box set released by Rise Above/Metal Blade Records. It was during The Aquarian Weekly interview that Ward enthusiastically said, “we’re finally going to get the opportunity to play the material from Healing Through Fire for American audiences. We’re going to go out and play four or five songs off that record for the crowd.”

Healing Through Fire is the sixth full-length album from the popular English metal band. Lyrically inspired by The Great Plague and London ’s Great Fire of 1666, the band still considers it to be one of their best albums. Ward says, “this album has been very hard to find in recent times. We are glad that people can once again hear what I consider to be one of our finest albums. Songs like “The Ballad of Solomon Eagle,” They Come Back,” “Vagrant Stomp,” and many more that are regularly featured in our live set can now be heard again. As a band, we are delighted.”

Currently recording the follow-up to the mega-successful A Eulogy For The Damned, Orange Goblin are expected to return to the US to tear up clubs later this year. Working again with Jamie Dodd, bass guitar and drums have been tracked with guitars and vocals expected to be completed by May 17. The final mix is anticipated by early June . The band announced last week a full European tour with doom legend Saint Vitus. Set to begin in France on October 9, the tour will work its way through 13 countries before concluding in Germany on November 14. On the tour’s announcement Ward said, “we are extremely excited to be going on tour with our good friends and long-time heroes Saint Vitus. Vitus are one of the bands that inspired us to form Orange Goblin all those years ago and to be able to promote our new album and celebrate their 35th Anniversary at the same time just blows my mind. This tour is going to be awesome.”

Orange Goblin’s still untitled new album is anticipated for release in October.
