VISION OF DISORDER: To Enter Studio To Record New Album

Vision of Disorder will enter Frankie Nasso’s Staten Island-based Nova Studios on July 5 to begin tracking the follow-up to 2012’s The Cursed Remain Cursed. The album will be produced by Zeus (Agnostic Front, Crowbar, Hatebreed, Whitechapel). A late autumn release date is expected. It will be the band’s second album for Candlelight Records.

“We are so very happy to see the songs starting to come together,” says vocalist Tim Williams. “The new songs are dark, heavy, and melodic in a way only Vision Of Disorder can deliver.” A few working song titles for the still-to-be-named album include “Razed to the Ground,” “War On The Police,” and “Nightcrawler.”

Williams conducted an interview with Cryptic Rock to discuss the band’s recently reissued debut ep, Still. “Still has something of a cult following and I think it is worth getting it back out there for those that want to hear it and to maybe grab a few new people who may not have heard it before.” Limited copies of the 20th Year Anniversary 12-inch vinyl pressing are available via Dignified Bastard. Featuring three additional songs not on the original 7-inch, the anniversary edition is getable on six different colors.

Lambgoat called The Cursed Remain Cursed, “a rock-solid return for the seminal metalcore act. Credit V.O.D. for taking such a long hiatus and coming back just as sharp and pissed-off as anyone could hope.” The album, produced by Will Putney (Poison The Well, Suicide Silence, The Acacia Strain) and mixed by Cameron Webb (Ignite, Pennywise), was the band’s first new album in a decade. On its release mid-September 2012 The PRP said, “the effort more than lives up to the high bar the band have previously set. Truly Vision of Disorder‘s long-awaited return sees them emerging even more fearsome.” Revolver Magazine called it “a welcome return.”

One of the most innovative and widely admired bands to emerge from the collision between hardcore and metal, Vision Of Disorder exploded from the streets of Long Island in 1996. “Vision Of Disorder took a much needed baseball bat to the head of stagnant hardcore,” noted Decibel when describing the band’s unique sound. Twenty three years on from their formation, the band continues to deliver a heady brew of savage riffing and fearless proclamations that merge their sonic past with new vitality.

A new Spotify playlist launched today featuring top Candlelight tracks at iTunes for the period May 26 thru June 5. Vision Of Disorder’s “The Enemy” from The Cursed Remain Cursed is featured. Hear it HERE.

Vision Of Disorder is vocalist Tim Williams, guitarist Mike Kennedy, bassist Mike Fleischmann, and drummer Brendon Cohen.

DEMON LUNG: A Dracula Streaming At Revolver Magazine + Live Dates

With the release of A Dracula, the hotly anticipated second full-length from Las Vegas-based doom hellions, Demon Lung, now less than two weeks away, today (HERE) Revolver Magazine is hosting the record in its sinister entirety.

Tracked by legendary soundsmith, Billy Anderson (Neurosis, Zoroaster, Eyehategod, Taurus, Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth etc.), A Dracula delivers eight dark, menacing psalms of sin loosely based on Juan López Moctezuma’s 1977 horror film, Alucarda in which two teenage orphan girls living in a Catholic convent unleash a demonic force and ultimately become possessed by Satan.

Already reaping the approvals of media outlets nationally and abroad, Doom Metal Heaven names the latest Demon Lung platter, “a consistently engaging and mesmerizing work of creative misery,” The Sludgelord notes, “A Dracula is a record that screams of heaviness, but it also provides a sonic abyss that allows listeners to get lost in its depth and undercurrent,” while Nefarious Realm champions, “a massive record full of monumental riffs, an impressive rhythm section, and a voice full of soul…by far one of the best releases of the year.” Meat Mead And Metal celebrates a production that, “scratches every damn doom itch,” and is, “blisteringly fun but also richly mind-altering, like you’re being beaten alive as drugs paralyze your system,” naming Demon Lung, “one of doom’s most exciting new bands.” Metal Insider concurs, “they’ve not only avoided the dreaded sophomore slump on their newest opus, but they’ve kicked it in the nuts and pushed it off a cliff…You’d be hard-pressed to find a better soundtrack this year for gratuitous amounts of blood, and sadistic hedonism… If they were any heavier, any more smothering, the Earth would open and swallow you whole.”

In related Demon Lung missives, the band will bring their rumbling rituals to the stage of Crucialfest tomorrow and a record release show the following evening with special guests, Ides Of Gemini, as well as Southwest Terror Fest this Fall with additional live ceremonies in their plotting stages.

Demon Lung Tour Dates:

  • 6/19/2015 Crucialfest – Salt Lake City, UT
  • 6/20/2015 The Dive – Las Vegas, NV * record release show w/ Ides Of Gemini
  • 10/18/2015 Southwest Terror Fest @ Club Congress – Tucson, AZ

A Dracula comes nearly two years to the date from the successful release of the band’s critically-lauded, 2013-released The Hundredth Name. Media applauded the band, especially vocalist Shanda Fredrick with Decibel Magazine gushing, “She emerges like a high empress, adding real soul to the quintet’s lurch.” A Dracula will be released via Candlelight Records on June 29th, 2015 with additional tour dates to be be announced shortly.

SIGH: Legendary Japanese Avant Extreme Metal Quintet To Release Tenth Studio Album Via Candlelight Next Month; New Tunes Posted

Japanese extreme metal/noise icons, Sigh, will unveil their crushing tenth studio opus next month. Titled Graveward, the eclectic, ten-track offering took over two-and-a-half years to complete with each song comprising over one-hundred recording tracks exceeding 100GB of audio to select from in the final mixes. Inspired by musician/composer Fabio Frizzi, Graveward pays homage to Italian zombie and Hammer Horror classics. Graveward features guest performances from Trivium’s Matthew Heafy, DragonForce’s Fred Leclercq, Shining’s Niklas Kvarforth, Rotting Christ’s Sakis Tolis, The Meads Of Asphodel’s Metatron and others with fittingly twisted, grave-robbing cover art by Costin Chioreanu (Ihsahn, At the Gates, Deicide, Ulver, etc.).

In an early impression of the record, A Metal State Of Mind notes, “With a focus of a theme, more touches of thrash, and guest spots from more ‘mainstream’ metal artists from bands like Trivium and DragonForce, I would have to say Graveward is the most accessible Sigh record. A great starting point to delve into the madness with if you haven’t yet. Best thing, with this accessibility, none of the experimentation that makes Sigh great has been sacrificed.”

Already devouring the hordes in Europe, Graveward will be released in North America via Candlelight Records on May 4th, 2015.

In the meantime sample opening canticle of chaos, “Kaedit Nos Pestis,” as well as the official video for “Out Of The Grave” AT THIS LOCATION.

Graveward Track Listing:

  • 1. Kaedit Nos Pestis
  • 2. Graveward
  • 3. The Tombfiller
  • 4. The Forlorn
  • 5. The Molesters Of My Soul
  • 6. Out Of the Grave
  • 7. The Trial By The Dead
  • 8. The Casketburner
  • 9. A Messenger From Tomorrow
  • 10. Dwellers In Dream

For over two decades, Sigh has been transcending the confines of extreme metal. Forged in 1989 in Tokyo, Japan, the band was initially signed by Euronymous’ infamous Deathlike Silence Records on which they released their debut full-length, Scorn Defeat, in 1993. Sigh would go on to release records via various imprints including Cacophonous, Century Media, Baphomet and The End before making Candlelight Records their label home with the release of 2012′s crushing, critically-adored In Somniphobia and this year’s Graveward.

VOICES: New Video From UK Avant Metallers Now Playing At Noisey

Today, Noisey premieres the latest video from English avant noise merchants, Voices. Directed by Samuel Joseph Loynes and Finnian Moore, “Last Train Victoria Line” is one of fourteen new songs featured on the band’s recently released second album, London available now at national and regional retailers, Amazon, and iTunes.

London’s North American release follows an already impressive launch in Europe with Metal Hammer naming the record, “one of the most unique and ambitious metal albums of recent years.” Recorded at Hackney Studios during the early months of 2014, London is a challenging and fearless offering that is fitting for a band that features former members of acclaimed progressive black metal band Akercocke. “This is the first time we’ve written songs where we’ve thought about the arrangement and structure,” shared guitarist Sam Loynes during a recent interview with Terrorizer Magazine. Cvlt Nation launched a full stream of the album days prior to its January 27th release, noting, “Voices conjures a bleak, gray and hopeless soundscape, inspired by the ‘urban and hostile’ South London streets. It is beautiful and furious, frustrated and self-assured.”

“Last Train Victoria Line” visually flirts with the album’s storyline. Loynes explains, “Voices always aim to bring something unique, something atypical to proceedings. A collaboration of some essential creative friends and foes, this video is our greatest audio-visual piece to date. The litter-strewn street and red brick claustrophobia of London’s East End was the perfect surrounding for the hostile yet kinetic shoot that channeled our cloaked anti-hero and, in opposition, much desired ‘Megan’ seductress.”

To view the video click HERE.

Formed in 2011, Voices is the sonic experiment of guitarist/vocalist Peter Benjamin, drummer David Gray, and Sam Loynes. London comes only twelve months after the release of the band’s debut, From The Human Forest Create A Fugue Of Imaginary Rain. Revolver Magazine calls London, “sprawling, ambitious, and coldly beautiful. It’s everything a progressive black metal concept album should be,” while New Noise notes, “London is one of the most delightfully maddening listens you’ll have all year.” Invisible Oranges agrees, “the labyrinthine sonic tapestry that Voices are weaving on this album is one I’ve found myself drawn to more than a few times.” Adds Metal Insider, “Voices is a band that is unafraid of musical exploration.”

VOICES: New Record From UK Avant Sound Contortionists Streaming At Cvlt Nation

Just days away from its North American release, today Cvlt Nation streams London, the brand new studio offering from UK avant sound contortionists, Voices, in its entirety.

Delivering fourteen bastardized tracks of progressive blackened psychedelic melancholia centered on the forgotten and diseased underbelly of England’s capital city, Voices – who features within their twisted ranks former members of Akercocke and My Dying Bride – compose perfectly imperfect sounds to welcome the end of creation, the extinction of the human, the collapse of music as we once knew…

Already reaping critical acclaim throughout European media outlets with Metal Hammer naming the record, “one of the most unique and ambitious metal albums of recent years… from sumptuous beauty through helplessly driven, angular extremity to mind-flaying, id-erupting mania, London is a shattering of the senses, and a psychedelic thrill ride down the rabbit-hole of consciousness,” and Angry Metal Guy assuring, “you’ll be completely captivated right until the final excruciating note,” London is earning similar accolades on North American shores. Metal Insider applauds a band, “unafraid of musical exploration,” furthering that, “their ability to seamlessly meld together genres as varied as black and death metal with dark folk and prog rock, among so many others, would be commendable in attempt alone. But the success in which they’ve been able to so perfectly paint this shadow world with music, beyond how they are describing it directly in words, makes this album one of the most distinctive and engaging metal albums in recent memory.” Metal Underground calls London, “a sprawling piece of work,” and a, “solid effort of progressive black/death metal,” Dead Rhetoric commends in an 8.5/10 an offering that’s, “utterly bleak… capturing a feeling of a demented rollercoaster ride,” adding, “London is an exquisite trip worth taking on repeated occasions,” while New Noise Magazine notes, “Voices has certainly crafted a challenging and harsh listen, but that doesn’t diminish how impressive the full result is, given you have the time and energy to take a harrowing journey with these Englishmen.”

Celebrating a record that’s, “beautiful and furious, frustrated and self-assured,” Voices’ London is currently streaming, courtesy of Cvlt Nation, at THIS LOCATION.

Voices was formed in London in 2011 as a new experiment from guitarist/vocalist Peter Benjamin, drummer David Gray and bassist Sam Loynes (all former members of Akercocke) with a mission to create a deep brand of cold and confronting music, part hypnotic yet often disturbing, focusing from an avant-garde take upon black metal, whilst always striving to explore a wide musical spectrum.

London will be released in North America via Candlelight Records on January 27th, 2015. Preorder your copy today at THIS LOCATION.

KING PARROT: Australian Return To North America This March, Supporting Weedeater

Australian thrash grind miscreants, King Parrot, will return to the stage this March on another North American rash of live devastations. Slated to embark on March 21st in Austin, Texas, King Parrot will march through two-dozen cities supporting bong metal perpetrators, Weedeater, with the passage coming to a close on April 18th in Wilmington, North Carolina. The Metal Injection-sponsored tour follows the band’s ten-date run through Europe (also supporting team Weedeater).

Declares the band, “We’re honored to be heading out with the legendary Weedeater. We’ve heard only awesome reports about this great band live, and we can’t wait to have our own chapter in the folklore of Dixie Dave and company. All the people working behind the scenes on this tour have been excited about pairing our bands for some time, so I’m sure this will be one for the ages! Expect all the crazy shit you would at a high octane punk or metal show, and then times it by ten, as I’m positive both bands will bring their proverbial A game. I’ve heard from people around the country, ‘If there’s anyone crazier than King Parrot, it’s Weedeater.’ We’ll be out to prove them wrong! We’ll also be playing a swag of songs from our new album to be released mid-year, so come get a sample of what we have in store.”

King Parrot released their Bite Your Head Off full-length via Candlelight Records in 2013 and have been road-bound ever since, waging their sonic brutality and live antics upon unsuspecting eyes and ears both stateside and abroad. Championed for its, “dark, black humor,’ and accurately dubbed, “raucous, uncouth, rude, scatological and completely compelling,” by This Is Not A Scene, Bite Your Head Off was produced by Jason Fuller (Blood Duster, Dern Rutlidge) and Adam Calaitzis (Damaged, Abramelin) and manages to capture the raw intensity of their furious live assault, defying genres with a cross section attack of thrash, grind, punk and hardcore.

“A nice little cross-up of musical ability and amusing visuals (the videos for ‘Dead End’ and ‘Shit On The Liver’ are quality viewing), King Parrot should be able to find their place in a relatively stale and average grind scene. And frankly, thaty’s what grind needs: A shot in the arm, a mix-up, and some well-intended goofiness… this should do it. 8.5/10″ – Dead Rhetoric

“I’ve never felt so personally threatened by a record before” – Hysteria Magazine

“…a must for any fans of Australian metal or extreme metal 4/5″ – Sputnik Music

“…a calculated piece of extreme art, with strong musicianship and a production job skilfully left just on the right side of raw and dirty…” – Beat.com

FALLOCH: Scottish Melancholic Post-Metallers New Album This Month

Scottish melancholic post-metallers, Falloch, will unveil their long anticipated new full-length via Candlelight Records next month. Titled This Island, Our Funeral, the follow up to 2011′s Where Distant Spirits Remain was tracked at London’s Orgone Studios by Jaime Gomez Arellanu (Ghost, Cathedral, Ulver), and delivers nearly an hour’s worth of dark, chilling odes of atmospheric beauty.

Boasting a far darker dirge than its predecessor, Terrorizer Magazine commends This Island, Our Funeral‘s, “haunting atmosphere and evocative crescendos of music and emotion,” further recommending, “go for a walk with it; you’ll struggle not to be moved.” In a perfect 5/5 rating, Metal Purgatory opines, “If this album can teach us anything, it is that we all come from this Earth and that this will be our funeral grounds. The emotions and power behind this album is immense and incomparable to anything else you will experience…” Ave Noctum concurs, “sometimes it’s really nice to sit back and just let pleasant music wash over you…” While Against Magazine adds, “This Island, Our Funeral is evidence that ancient themes reproduced nowadays can also be approached in different ways other than folk and black metal. Falloch present a canvas of modern doom and post metal. By the last part of the twelve-minute ‘Sanctuary,’ it’s really been acknowledged that this Earth is our home and it will be our funeral ground, brought by the heavy and mournful mid-paced farewell.”

This Island, Our Funeral track listing:

  • 1. Tòrradh
  • 2. For Life
  • 3. For Ùir
  • 4. Brahan
  • 5. -
  • 6. I Shall Build Mountains

Forged in Glasgow, Scotland in 2010 by Andy Marshall and Scott McLean and named after the Falls of Falloch waterfall in Crianlarich, Falloch draws inspiration from an assortment of genres from metal, atmospheric rock, post-rock and Scottish folk to minimalist composers like Arvo Pärt and Yann Tiersen. Formerly a duo, the band now features an expanded lineup of new vocalist/guitarist Tony Dunn, bassist Ben Brown, and drummer Steve Scott with founder/guitarist McLean.

Falloch’s This Island, Our Funeral will be released in North America via Candlelight Records on January 27th, 2015. Preorders are currently available at THIS LOCATION.

VOICES: UK Dark Avant Sound Contortionists Release London Full-Length In North America This Month

Comments the band, “Voices invites listeners to join them walk through the cold streets of South London. London is represented in a manner that few can admit or stomach, and we hope to show the world our negative journey through this urban and hostile landscape.”

Already reaping the hails of European media outlets, Metal Hammer crowns London, “one of the most unique and ambitious metal albums of recent years… from sumptuous beauty through helplessly driven, angular extremity to mind-flaying, id-erupting mania, London is a shattering of the senses, and a psychedelic thrill ride down the rabbit-hole of consciousness.” Ave Noctum calls the creation, “dizzying and jaw dropping,” as it, “maliciously batters away throwing things in a head stewing melee,” while HorrorSexy adds in a perfect 10/10 review, “London is a complex album…Yet, the rewards it delivers are so very worth your time, patience and energy. In a year that has already seen outstanding albums from fellow Brits, Fen and labelmates Winterfylleth, Voices close out the year with an absolute stunner.
